Edappally Maha Ganapathy Temple is the family Kshetram of Edappally Kovilakam or Edappally Swaroopam. Ganesha, the remover of all difficulties is facing east in the Garbhagriham.

Sthala Puranam says that the Vigneshwara himself appeared before the Edappally Kottaram while performing the Ganapathy Homam and accepted the offerings. Ganapathy Homam is done here daily. Several People visit here to seek fulfillment of their wishes and removal of obstacles and difficulties.

The Udayasthamana Pooja (morning to evening religious ceremonies) in this temple is popular. Unniappam (Neiyyappam) is famous offering here.

Vittala Panduranga and Narahari Sonar Narahari Sonar was a great Shiva Bhakta who lived in Pandharpur. He worshipped Mallikarjuna Shiva temple near Vittal Temple, but never wished to  look at Vithoba's temple even once. Koppudai Amman Temple Sivaganga, Tamil Nadu Koppudai Nayaki Amman Koil is located in Karaikudi. Adi Shankaracharya, visited this temple and has installed Sri Chakra. Vigraham of Devi is made of Panchaloka, (a mixture of 5 metals).  Another uniqueness of Temple is that Utsava Moorthy and Moola Vigraham is the same. This is seen only in Chidambaram Natarajar Temple.  There were two sisters Koppudai Nayaki and Kattamma. Koppudai Nayaki treated her sister’s kids as her own.  But Kattamma didn't allow this.
