Valamchuzy Devi Kshetram, Pathanamthitta

Valamchuzy Devi Kshetram
Pathanamthitta, Kerala

Valamchuzy Bhuvaneshwary Kshetram is an old temple, surrounded by Achankovil river.
The name Valamchuzhi is derived from the fact that the Achankovil river flows on three sides of the temple.

It is the only temple in South India which is surrounded by a river. Story says that, a devotee of Kodungallur Amma did Tapasya and Adi Parashakthi appeared before him. He brought a sword and chilambu from kodungallur, and thus Devi Prathista was done here in Valamchuzhy. Mahabharani Festival is very famous in this temple
