Narasimha Jayanti is celebrated on Vaishakha Shukla Chaturdashi. Mahavishnu took Narasimha Avataram and appeared  this day to destroy Hiranyakashipu, an asura. Narasimha Jayanti signifies victory of good over evil. 

Mahavishnu took Narasimha Avataram to save Prahlada, who was a great Bhakta, from Hiranyakashipu. Hiranyakashipu gained a wish that he should not be killed either in day or night, inside or outside, any Devas, man or animal or by any weapon.  So Mahavishnu took Narasimha Avatar, half man and half lion, destroys him during Sandhya time which is not day or night, on the door step which is neither inside or outside. 

Praying to Narasimhar and doing pooja this day is very auspicious.  Narasimha Jayanthi Vratham is taken on this day for protection against any illness, to succeed in court issues, for wishes to be fulfilled, and to overcome all types of financial difficulties. Praying to Narasimhar for good health wealth and abundant happiness for all

Vittala Panduranga and Narahari Sonar Narahari Sonar was a great Shiva Bhakta who lived in Pandharpur. He worshipped Mallikarjuna Shiva temple near Vittal Temple, but never wished to  look at Vithoba's temple even once. Narahari Sonar was a gold Smith who was excellent in his work.  One day a merchant who was childless offered to donate a gold kavacham to Panduranga if he is blessed with a child. His prayer was answered and merchant visited Narahari Sonar, and requested him to make kavach. But Narahari Sonar a being a Shiva Bhaktha denied this. Koppudai Amman Temple Sivaganga, Tamil Nadu Koppudai Nayaki Amman Koil is located in Karaikudi. Adi Shankaracharya, visited this temple and has installed Sri Chakra. Vigraham of Devi is made of Panchaloka, (a mixture of 5 metals).  Another uniqueness of Temple is that Utsava Moorthy and Moola Vigraham is the same. This is seen only in Chidambaram Natarajar Temple.  There were two sisters Koppudai Nayaki and Kattamma. Koppudai Nayaki treated her sister’s kids as her own.  But Kattamma didn't allow this.
