Periyanayagi Amman Temple is situated at Devikapuram village of Tamil Nadu. Temple is the second largest temple in Thiruvannamalai District after Arunachaleswarar Temple. Devi is worshipped here as Periyanayagi or Brihannayaki. This is one of the 4 temples where Brahma did Prathista.
Sthala Puranam says that, Devaki, came here and worshipped Amman. After worshiping here Devaki gave birth of Sri Krishna. Thus the area is called Devakipuram. Paramashiva is Kanakagiriswarar here situated at the hill. Those who face obstacles in marriages worship Devi here. Temple has a big Rajagopuram and there are big Dwarapalakas on either side.
There are many bee combs situated at the temple. It is believed that sages live here as bees and birds to safeguard the Temple's treasures. There are 4 Theerthams in the Temple - The Brahma Theertham located inside the Temple and the Navagraha Theertham located outside, the Agni Theertham located South East of the Temple, and the Devaradiyar Theertham located in the West.
