Cheluvanarayana Swamy Temple is located at Melkote in Mandya District. Temple is also called Thirunarayanapura and Dakshina Badri.  Mahavishnu is worshipped as Cheluvanarayana Swamy and Lakshmi Devi as Yadugiri Nachiyar. 

Shri Rama visited here with Lava and Kusha, thus temple is also called Ramapriya. Sthala Puranam says that, Ramanujacharya did Prathista of Vigraham here when he was forced to leave Srirangam. When he reached here, Ramanujar cured the disease of King's daughter. Later Mahavishnu appeared in his dream and informed his presence in the hill. Ramanujar along with King searched for Vigraham and thus Prathishta was done. Vairamudi Brahmotsavam is one of the major annual festivals that is celebrated here. 

During this festival perumal is decorated with diamond crown. It is believed that this diamond crown is brought by Garuda. Temple is famous for its architecture.
