Kigga Rushya Shringeshwara Devastana
Sringeri, Karnataka
It is said that, one day Vibhandaka bathed in a river. A deer drank that water and soon a child was born to him. The kingdom of Anga was struck by a famine and Narada Muni suggested King to bring Rishyasringa. When Rishyasringa entered kingdom, it began raining heavily.
The king was overjoyed and gave his daughter to Rishyasringa. Rishyashringa performed Tapasya for Narasimha on Sahyadri mountain ranges after learning about his father’s aikya with Parameshwara. Narasimha appears and advices to worship Chandra Mouleshwara here. Rishyashringa performs the Tapasya, and Chandramouleshewara appears. Rishyashringa instead of saying he wished to join Paramashiva, he tells Shiva to join him here. Thus Chandramouleshwara joins Rishyashringa here.
