Thiruvarur, Tamil Nadu

Vaduvur Ramar temple is also called Dakshina Ayodhya. Sri Rama is worshipped as Kothandaramar, along with Sita Devi, Hanuman and Lakshmanan. Temple is also called Abhimana Divyadesam.

Sthala Puranam says that, after 14 years of Vanavasam, Shri Rama was returning to Ayodhya. Many rishis prayed Ramar to stay with them forever. Shri Rama asked Viswakarma to make a beautiful Vigraham. Seeing the beauty of Vigraham all the rishis allowed Sri Rama to leave, on one condition that, Vigraham should be given to them.

Later, Shri Rama appeared in a king’s dream and told him about Vigrahams lying underground. King woke up from dream and proceeded immediately, with his troops and unearthed the Vigrahams of Shri Rama, Seetha Devi and Hanuman.

The people of the Vaduvur village requested the king to do Prathista of the Vigrahams at Rukmani-Sathyabhama samedha Gopalan temple. Later, king accepts their requests and thus Shri Rama has been the main deity in the Gopalan temple.

Shri Rama Navami is very famous here.

Jai Sree Ram
