Adhi Varaha Perumal Temple

Varaha Perumal Temple is located in Thanjavur District of Tamil Nadu. Mahavishnu is worshipped here as Adhi Varahar and Lakshmi Devi as Ambujavalli. Vigraham of Mahavishnu is made of Saligramam. 

Sthala Puranam says that, Hiranyaksha took  Bhoomi Devi to Padala Loka and hid her there. Devas prayed to Mahavishnu and perumal took Varaha avataram and brought Bhoomi Devi. Varaha moorthy provides darshanam here with Bhoodevi on his lap. 

Vigraham has Chakra on one hand and Shanka on other.  Sree Krishna is worshipped here as Santhana Krishnan. Kashyapa Muni is said to have worshipped Varaha Perumal here. Peumal is seen in Kalyanakolam, so this is prarthana Sthalam for unmarried people. 

Located just behind Chakrapani temple theertha kulam here is Varaha Theertham. Temple is parihara Sthalam for the effects of Rahu and Kethu, lighting a deepam here is said to relieve all illeffects of dosham.
