Madhur Madanantheshwara Temple is situated on the banks of river Madhuvahini, of Kasaragod. Moolavar is Paramashiva but importance is given for Ganapathy. Paramashiva is worshipped here as Madanantheshwara.
Sthala Puranam says that, a women living in this area found a Vigraham of Paramashiva here. After Prathista of Paramashiva, a boy while playing drew a Ganapathy in the walls of Sri kovil. The picture began to grow big daily and it is believed that it is still growing.
Another story says that, once Tipu Sultan came here to attack temple, but after drinking water of the Kshetra Kulam, he changed his mind and went without any attacks. Garba Griham is like a Gajaprishta, which means like an elephant.
Temple is one among the 6 ancient Ganapathy Temples in this region. Appam Nivedyam is very famous here. Many devotees also perform the Sahasrappa (1000 Appams) Pooja here. Vinayaka Chathurthi is very famous here.
