Sri Ksheera Ramalingeswara Temple
West Godavari, Andhra Pradesh

Ksheera Ramalingeswara Temple is located in Palakollu, West Godavari of Andhra Pradesh. Temple is one among the 5 Pancharama Kshetrams. Paramashiva is worshipped here as Ksheera Ramalingeswarar. 

It is believed that Mahavishnu did Prathista of Vigraham here. It is believed that spending one day in the temple is equal to spending one year in Varanasi. Shivalingam here is white in colour so Shivalingam is called Kshiralingam. Kshetra Theertham is called Ksheera Pushkarini. 

Sthala Puranam says that during Samudra Madanam, Tarakasura stole  Shivalingam and wore around his neck. Muruga attacked Tarakasura but couldn't defeat him because of powers of Shivalingam. Mahavishnu adviced Subramanya to break the Shivalingam inorder to defeat him. Thus Muruga break Shivalingam into 5 pieces which is 5 Pancharama Kshetrams. Thus Mahavishnu did Prathista of Shivalingam here.

Vittala Panduranga and Narahari Sonar Narahari Sonar was a great Shiva Bhakta who lived in Pandharpur. He worshipped Mallikarjuna Shiva temple near Vittal Temple, but never wished to  look at Vithoba's temple even once. Koppudai Amman Temple Sivaganga, Tamil Nadu Koppudai Nayaki Amman Koil is located in Karaikudi. Adi Shankaracharya, visited this temple and has installed Sri Chakra. Vigraham of Devi is made of Panchaloka, (a mixture of 5 metals).  Another uniqueness of Temple is that Utsava Moorthy and Moola Vigraham is the same. This is seen only in Chidambaram Natarajar Temple.  There were two sisters Koppudai Nayaki and Kattamma. Koppudai Nayaki treated her sister’s kids as her own.  But Kattamma didn't allow this.
