Temple is dedicated to Bhadrakali, ugram roopam of Parvati Devi. Temple is situated on a hillock between Warangal and Hanumakonda. It is believed that this ancient temple was originally built during the Chalukyan reign.

Kakatiya rulers treated Bhadrakali as their kula devata. Bhadrakali Temple,Warangal is said to be Original Home of Kohinoor Diamond. Kakatiya rulers, fixed left eye of the devi with Kohinoor Diamond made lake called Bhadrakali Lake is built here during Kakatiya reign.

Later Ganapathi Sastri, an devotee of Kali, came here from Karnataka and settled here. Seeing sad state of the temple Ganapathi Sastri, with the help of other locals rebuild the temple.

It is said that vigraham is also modified by changing ugra roopam of Bhadrakali Amman
to smiling face of Tripurasundari. Annual festival is conducted during August- September and Devi  fulfills the desires of the devotees.
