Kamika Ekadashi

Kamika Ekadashi

Kamika Ekadashi is also called Pavitra Ekadashi. Kamika Ekadashi vratam is observed on the eleventh day of the Krishna Paksha in the Ashadha month. Ekadashi vratham comes during Chaturmas itself is very important.

Yudhishithira asks Shri Krishna to explain the importance of this Vratham. Krishna tells that Bhrama Deva has mentioned the importance to Narada Muni. Once there was a conversation between Brahma Deva and Narada Muni, about benefits of keeping the Ekadashi Vratham. Bhrama Deva explains the significance of Kamika Ekadashi, that keeping a vratham on this day is equal to taking a bath in the sacred waters of Ganga.

Also equal to Ashwametha Yagnam. It is also said that whoever takes this Vratham With utmost devotion and with a sincere heart will be free of all doshas. That is the reason Ekadashi is also called Pavitra Ekadashi, as it purifies our soul. Also one who observe vratham and offers Tulasi leaves to Mahavishnu is assured all happiness
