Sthala Puranam says that Meenakshi emerged from a Yajna as a 3 year old girl. Yajnam was performed by Malayadwaja Pandya Raja. Meenakshi was born with three breasts and it was said to Raja that her third breast will disappear as soon as she meets the one who will marry her.
