Poonthanam Namboodiri & Guruvayur Krishna

Poonthanam Namboodiri was an ardent Bhakta of Guruvayurappan. He always wished to stay at Guruvayur. He was neither a scholar nor an intellectual but wrote famous Jnanappana, a famous poem. It is said that Krishna himself guided him to write Jnanappana.

There are many famous stories of Poonthanam, and his Bhakthi.

Many scholars recite Srimad Bhaghavatam in Guruvayur temple. Poonthanam used to tell meaning of each sloka of Bhaghavatam.

One day a scholar was reading Bhaghavatam & poonthanam was briefing meaning of Rukmini Swayamvaram. Poonthanam told meaning of a sloka that "Rukimni sent the Brahmin to Dwaraka with a letter to Sree Krishna". The word letter was not mentioned in Bhaghavatam, so one of them questioned Poonthanam regarding this.

Suddenly a voice was heard from inside the Guruvayur temple. The voice said

"Which shloka says that the letter wasn't sent? The Brahmin brought Rukmini's letter to me"

Everyone knew it was Krishna who answered and they apologized for the mistake. Thus was Poonthanam's Krishna Bhakthi.
