Sri Mahanandiswara Swamy Temple is located in Kurnool District of Andhra Pradesh. Paramashiva is Swayambhu here and is worshipped as Maha Nandiswara. Temple is one among the Nava Nandi Temples in Andhra Pradesh. 

There is a continuous flow of water from the Kshetra Theertham to the Garba Griham always, irrespective of the seasons. Sthala Puranam says that, the area was ruled by a King called Parvatha. He had 2 sons, Shilada and Nandi. Both of them did Tapasya to Paramshiva and Shilada ate only rocks as food. 

Paramshiva was pleased with his Tapasya and converted him to a Mountain. The other son, Nandi was made Vahanam. The place where Nandi did Tapas is the present Mahanandi situated. There are 3 Theerthams in the Kshetra, Brahma Gundam, Vishnu Gundam and Rudra Gundam. The water that comes from the Kshetra Theertha is said to have healing powers.
