Why should we whisper in Nandi's Ear first

In Shiva temples before worshipping Shiva, we should pray & ask permission of Nandi first. Nandi always sits there & prays before Mahadev. There is a story behind of why we should whisper in Nandi's ear first.

Once Parvati Devi lost her memories and due to this Mahadev wad very much worried. Mahadev along with Devi Parvati immersed themselves in prayers for peace of mind and Nandi also joined them. That time an asura Jalandharan came and took Maa Parvati away from Mahadev.

Bhagwan who was in deep prayers didn't knew this. Devas who knew this conveyed the news to Ganesha to inform Mahadev. Eventhough Ganesha tried to woke Mahadev, he failed. Atlast Ganesha thought of a plan, he told everything to Nandi who was sitting straight to Mahadev. Nandi conveyed everything he heard to Mahadev. Atonce Mahadev woke from Tapasya and brought Devi back. From that day this practice is followed by all Devas and it is being transferred. If we want yo convey anything to Paramashiva, whisper it first to Nandi's ears without touching.

Vittala Panduranga and Narahari Sonar Narahari Sonar was a great Shiva Bhakta who lived in Pandharpur. He worshipped Mallikarjuna Shiva temple near Vittal Temple, but never wished to  look at Vithoba's temple even once. Koppudai Amman Temple Sivaganga, Tamil Nadu Koppudai Nayaki Amman Koil is located in Karaikudi. Adi Shankaracharya, visited this temple and has installed Sri Chakra.
